Two Hemisphere's
The monument is Chatham County's tribute to those lost in WWII. The globe is split in to to represent the two hemispheres showing both sides of the globe, indicating the war in Europe and in the Pacific, with hundreds of names of veterans, both killed and missing. You can walk inside of the globe as well. The Monument is on West River Street in downtown Savannah.

Around the monument are bricks with the names of those who contributed to the cost of the memorial.
The Dream of the Chatham County Veterans Council. This monument took 10 years of fundraising to accomplish.
Architect, Eric Meyerhoff, was approached by the City of Savannah to help design the memorial. This was a World War, and I wanted that theme," Meyerhoff said. "The world was divided. The Pacific theatre. The European Theatre. And I came up with the world apart."
